SilverSprint Economy Service - Terms and Conditions
Please pay attention to the terms below as they highlight common problems that can occur. This is your chance to avoid undue distress by following our advice
The ECONOMY SERVICE is not an express service. We aim to collect and deliver within England and Wales within 21 working days of payment having being received for the delivery. Scotland, Ireland and European destinations may take slightly longer. Generally our service is well inside these times. If you need your item collected and delivered within 5 working days, we suggest you use our same day dedicated service.
The service is KERBSIDE. As we are a courier company, not a removal specialist, it is not our job to carry goods through awkward passages or up flights of stairs. We will not dismantle nor assemble items. You must tell us in advanced if you expect your goods to be collected or delivered beyond the kerbside. There is one driver on the van and although he/she will be very obliging and will often assist you beyond the kerbside, they should not be expected to do so. The insurance for both the goods and our staff are to the kerbside and any incident that occurs beyond will not be covered whether our driver is helping you or not. The driver will issue a disclaimer should you wish for him to collect or deliver beyond the kerbside. This should be read carefully, signed and dated on the understanding that you accept that SilverSpint Transport including its staff will not be held responsible should a damage occur to the item or property beyond the kerbside.
Packaging that has come with the item of delivery cannot be removed and taken away by our driver as this will limit space in the back of the vehicle for future collections.
You must inform the other party of our terms and conditions. They are also expected to provide help to get the items from the kerbside and into the van. If a driver arrives at the address of the other party and there is no help, then we reserve the right to charge a minimum of 50% for the wasted journey. Therefore, to save you time and money, it is very important that the other party understand that it is a ONE MAN service only. It is not the responsibility of SilverSprint Transport to check if there is any assistance. The person purchasing our service is responsible in finding out if there is limited access or whether there is assistance for our driver.
Both parties are responsible for providing the necessary lifting equipment (if required) in order to load and unload. Although we carry a trolley and strapping, we do not have a tail lift or forklift and if lifting is required, the necesary lifting equipment or labour needs to be supplied ready for the arrival of our van. Our vans do have ramps for ease of collection / delivery.
The seller of the goods is responsible for ensuring that the items are adequately wrapped to survive a long distance journey. Although we do not tend to transfer the goods from van to van and do our best to ensure safe carriage, we cannot accept responsibility for items getting dirty, marked scratched or damaged in any way if the vendor has made no attempt to protect the goods. Our vehicles are kitted out with good quality straps and furniture blankets so we will do the best we can to ensure safe transportation.
Glass items will only be covered by our insurance if they are correctly packaged. These should be protected by several layers of foam or bubblewrap and also covered using double walled cardboard.
Although we are happy to collect non packaged items, you should understand that these have no insurance cover and therefore any damaged items will not be the responsibility of SilverSprint Transport.
In the unlikely event that a damage does occur within our insurance regulations, SilverSprint Transport will pay the amount that goods have been bought for. An eBay item number or invoice will need to be supplied for this as proof of the total. The delivery charge is non refundable. SilverSprint Transport will only pay for the worth of the damaged goods and will not be responsible for replacing the actual goods or offering any other form of compensation. We will also not be responsible for any following charges such as labour booked for the day to fit any goods we deliver or paying for a delivery of a replacement product.
It is the responsibility of sellers and buyers to make each other aware of what is expected of the purchased item. We do not check the condition of the goods we are collecting or delivering. Many items are sold as second hand and therefore any defects that are not the fault or SilverSprint Transport should be reported to the seller immediately. We are simply a courier service and cannot be held responsible if the goods are not as described by the seller.
Our deliveries are conducted Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 18:00. We do not collect or deliver outside these hours. If you or the other party cannot let our driver collect or deliver within these times, for example they will only accept a weekend collection or delivery. we cannot offer this service to you. We are happy to help you by collecting or delivering the goods in a safe place in the absence of somebody being available or calling 1/2 before arrival. Should you or the other party require a collection or delivery outside normal office hours, you should use our dedicated same day service.
You and the other party will be informed by phone when the collection and delivery dates will be. We will not attempt collection or delivery unless both parties have agreed a date and time with us. We will offer both parties a two hour time slot however this cannot be guaranteed due to unforeseen circumstances (Traffic delays, Adverse weather etc) If we encounter any delays, we will contact both parties to inform them of this.
If our driver arrives at either collection or delivery address at the agreed date and time and there is nobody available, the driver will wait for a maximum of 30 minutes. The driver will call both parties to inform them that he is waiting. However, if after 30 minutes nobody has arrived at the address, then we have the right to abort the collection or delivery and charge a minimum of 50% wasted journey fee. In these circumstances, we will always be in touch with the paying customer to inform them of each step.
We always do our scheduling over the weekend ready for the following week. We will not have a collection or delivery date before that time. We will call both yourself and the other party on a Monday to confirm the date and time. Once confirmed, any cancellations by either collection or delivery party will incur a £25.00 cancellation charge. Any change to the address is acceptable providing the address is in a 25 mile radius of the previous address.
All information supplied to us (Names, Addresses and phone number) should be correct. If we encounter problems and/or cannot find an address due to a wrong address or contact number supplied to us, you will be liable for further charges.
If the information regarding the item for transportation is incorrect, you are also liable for further charges. (for example the item is a 3 door wardrobe and you have paid for a 2 door wardrobe delivery)
Severability
If any part of these terms and conditions is found to be unenforceable as a matter of law, the enforceability of any other part of these terms and conditions will not be affected.
Governing Law
These terms and conditions and any contract between us shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with English Law and the English Courts shall have jurisdiction over any disputes between us.
Statutory Rights
These terms and conditions are in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer which remains unaffected. The Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 shall not apply to this agreement.
